The Recreation and Community Services Department provides services to the community in the areas of childcare, teen services, senior services, recreational classes, activities, and programs, adult sports, facility management and rentals, civic arts, cable television, and management of the Community Center. Additionally, the Department provides the community with seasonal recreation brochures, flyers and public information. The Department provides staff support for the Park and Recreation Commission and the Arts Committee.

Come by the Spring Art & Music Festival this Sunday. There will be Art Booths, Chalk & Coloring Contests. Create and wear a hat made out of recycled materials!
Live Music featuring Albany's favorite Music in the Park band-THE SHOTS at 12:30.
AHS Rhythmn Bound & Jazz Band will perform starting at 11 am.
Check out the hot band from Cafe Teria, Redhouse at 3 pm.
There will also be special performances by elementary school students at 12:15 & 2 pm.

FREE or LOW COST BIKE TUNE-UP AT ALBANY SPRING ART & MUSIC FESTIVAL! Courtesy of Albany Strollers & Rollers and Street Level Cycles. Spring has sprung and Bike to Work Day is coming up on May 15! Albany Strollers & Rollers and Street Level Cycles are teaming up to help you get your bike tuned up in preparation for Bike to Work Day while you're enjoying the festival.
The mechanics from Street Level Cycles will offer free or low cost tune-ups and repairs in our Festival booth so you can ride with the best of them. Albany Strollers & Rollers is the local advocacy group for bicyclists and pedestrians. We are working to make it safer and more convenient to ride and walk in Albany. Street Level Cycles is a unique bicycle shop in Berkeley that functions as a classroom as well as a full scale used bicycle shop. So roll, drag, push or pull your old bike over to the Festival, and Street Level Cycles will help you get it working better than you'd imagined.
The Albany Community Center offers a wide variety of year round activities for youth and adults. Check out our Activity Guide (at the top of this page) for a listing of all our upcoming classes. You can register for classes in person, over the phone, or online.

Planning a reception, banquet, birthday or business meeting? Start by choosing the right location for your next event. The City of Albany Community facilities can be an ideal choice. We have a wide range of facilities - small meeting rooms, banquet rooms, a commercial kitchen, parks, barbeque pits and sports fields, as well as staff that can assist you with your rental.

The Albany Senior Center provides a comprehensive array of social and recreational programs and services that meet the needs of older adults in the community enhancing their quality of life and helping them to remain active, healthy and independent.
At the Albany Senior Center, adults 50 and over enjoy socializing in a warm, friendly atmosphere while participating in the quality programs offered.
The Albany Bill Lewis Teen Center is open to all teens in sixth through ninth grade. The center offers drop-in activities, trips, sports activities and homework assistance. The Albany Teen Center is open Monday through Friday after school and on all school holidays. A special summer program offers non-stop activities, exciting field trips and a place to meet with friends. Call the Teen Center for a program calendar, registration form or information on the daily calendar.
Friendship Club, the City of Albany�s School Age after-school program, offers quality recreational program for youth in grades 1-5 in Memorial Park. The program offers arts and crafts, indoor/outdoor games, sports, computer play, and homework assistance. The Friendship Club is open 1:30 to 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday, with full day care (8 am�6 pm)offered on teacher in-service days and during winter/spring/summer vacations. Rates are competitive with surrounding programs.

The City of Albany's Recreation Department offers a variety of classes and programs for youth and adults. Programs offered by the City of Albany strive to foster new skills, promote health and well being and expand cultural and artistic development. In order to provide these services, the City seeks experienced individuals to work as contract employees to share their knowlege and skills with the community.
If there is a class you would like to offer, please read the Prospective Instructor Information & Proposal packet for more information on this process and submit a completed Class Proposal and Instructor Information Form (forms included in packet).
