Ocean View Park Entry
Terrace Park Tile Wall
Memorial Park Art Project
The Albany Arts Committee is commissioning three public art installations
in city parks during 2006-2007 as part of a larger citywide parks renovation project.
The Committee will be seeking artist proposals for the three projects, which are:
a sculpture for the entry to Ocean View Park
a tile mural on the exterior of the new Terrace Park restroom building
an interactive artwork in Memorial Park
Artists and artworks will be chosen by Selection Panels that will
include arts professionals, city residents, Arts Committee members, and
the city’s park renovation Project Manager. All Selection Panel meetings
will be open to the public, with an opportunity for public comment.
Models of the semi-finalists’ proposals for each park will be on public
display, with opportunity for the public to leave written comments,
prior to the final selection.
The three art projects are expected to be installed in Fall 2007.
Artists interested in applying for the projects should see the relevant
Calls for Artists, which will be posted on this page.
Artists and professionals interested in participating on a Selection
Panel should see the Selection Panel information.
Ocean View Call for Artists

Project: Sculpture for Ocean View Park Entrance
Purpose of the Project: To create an entry that
identifies Ocean View Park, incorporating into the park entry sign
wall (to be constructed) a sculptural feature that conveys an idea of the history and/or past or present geographical or environmental character of the park. Because this park entrance is near the main freeway entrance to the city of Albany, the sculpture could also be a “signature” image for the whole city.
