The City of Albany seeks positive, service-oriented team players for both part-time and on-call Recreation & Community Services Department positions. Recruitment is ongoing, for current openings (if any) as well as positions that may become available over the next 12 months. Positions may be at the Community Center, Senior Center, Teen Center, or Child Care Center.

Sports Instructor
$12.19-$14.82/hour

Requires 3 years related experience. Teaches recreation program participants the techniques, rules, and practices of an assigned sport or activity. May provide lead direction to subordinate staff, independent contractors, and volunteers. May prepare budgets, schedules, and reports.

Child Care Teacher
$12.19-$14.82/hour

Requires 12 Early Childhood Education (ECE) college units or at least 2 years experience in an elementary school age program (or a combination of ECE units and experience may be considered). Plans, organizes, and implements arts and crafts programs, group games, and other after-school programs for school age children.

Program Leader
$11.06-$13.44/hour

Requires 3 years related experience; some specialized education may be required. Program director for a specific program that includes a large number of participants, extensive revenues, and requires the exercise of some independent judgment. Organizes, conducts, and promotes a specific program area. Provides lead direction to subordinate staff, independent contractors, and volunteers. May prepare budgets, schedules, and reports.

Examples of program duties include: Head Cook prepares and serves an early supper at our Senior Center. Home Meal Delivery Coordinator and On-Site Meal Preparer provide nutritional services to at-home seniors. Sports League Coordinator and Special Events Coordinator organize specific recreation programs.

Program Specialist
$10.03-$12.19/hour

Requires 2 years related experience; some specialized education may be required. (May require 12 Early Childhood Education (ECE) college units for those who work in our licensed childcare center.) Teaches and leads activities in program area to which assigned. Assists in the development of curriculum and activities. May serve as a team leader to subordinate staff and volunteers.

Program Assistant
$9.10-$11.06/hour

Some experience is desired; there is no specific educational requirement. Conducts specific recreation or community services skills at an assigned facility. May perform related clerical duties. Performs a variety of semi-skilled tasks, which may include routine facility and grounds set-up and/or maintenance. Maintains and submits records and reports related to job assignments.

Examples of program duties include: Child Care Driver (transporting children between elementary schools and child care center), Facility Attendant, Sports Field Preparation Worker, Cook, Home Meal Assessment Specialist, Library Monitor, Program and Recreation Specialist, Scorekeeper, and Transportation Specialist.

Kitchen Aide
$8.00-$9.72/hour

No prior experience or education is required. Kitchen Aides assist in the set-up, serving, and clean-up of the early suppers at our Senior Center.
