City Council Meeting Summary, February 4, 2019
The following provides a summary of actions taken by the City Council as part of the special and regular meetings on February 4, 2019:
Closed Session: Conference with Real Property Negotiators - Property: Northeast Corner of Washington Avenue and Cleveland Avenue: the Council gave direction to staff.
Ceremonial: the Council presented Kim Denton with a Certificate of Recognition upon her thirty years of service as City Treasurer.
Annual Financial Statements and Annual Audit for FY 2016-17 & FY 2017: the Council received a presentation from Badawi & Associates on the Annual Financial Statement and Audit for fiscal years ending in 2017 & 2018, accepted and approved the filing of the reports.
Proposed Addition of Financial Management Goal to the City Council Strategic Plan: the Council approved for an objective of Financial Management Goal to be added with strategies to the draft City Council Strategic Plan. The Strategic Plan will return to Council for adoption at a later late.
Council Statement on City Council Agenda: the Council approved the changes to the Council Statement on the City Council agenda effective immediately as follows:
We, the members of the Albany City Council would like to reaffirm that we welcome and value all of our diverse community members regardless of where they are from, who they love, how they worship, how they look, their gender identity, their abilities, their economic status, or how they vote. We honor the Native people who were the original stewards of this land. City Council Appointments to the Alameda County Library Advisory Commission (ACLAC) and the Board of Police and Fire Pension Fund Commissioners: the Council appoints Amy Apel from the Albany Library Board as the City of Albany representative on the Alameda County Library Commission, and revised the appointment to the Board of Police and Fire Pension Fund Commissioners per City Charter to be Mayor Nason, and appoints Vice Mayor McQuaid as the alternate.
