Albany Hill Access Improvements
The Albany Hill Access Improvements project continues to progress. The Contractor has completed the concrete work associated with the accessible pathway from Taft to the summit and is now focusing on the path improvements between Taft, Jackson and Madison.
The City’s monarch butterfly expert, Dr. Stewart Weiss from Creekside Science, visited the site on November 5th and confirmed that construction activities have conformed to the design recommendations to protect Monarch habitat. The inspection report is available here.
Solano Avenue Sewer Rehabilitation

Sewer Rehabilitation Continues on Several Streets
The City’s Sewer Rehabilitation work continues. Streets scheduled for upcoming sewer rehabilitation include:
- Cornell Avenue - Solano to Washington
- Washington Avenue - Pomona to Masonic
- Curtis Avenue - Solano to Marin
- Pomona Avenue - Solano to Dartmouth
- Stannage - Marin to Dartmouth
City of Berkeley Sewer Project
The City of Berkeley owns and operates a sewer trunk line in Albany under Portland Avenue between Kains Avenue and Curtis Street. They are currently in construction to rehabilitate this pipeline. Their construction will impact this section of Portland Avenue as well as sections of San Pablo Avenue (between Clay and Garfield), Santa Fe, Curtis, Thousand Oaks, Garfield, and Clay.
The City's contractor has installed 1,200 feet of new sewer main and upgraded sewer laterals to 33 structures on upper Solano Avenue. The work was completed ahead of schedule, and we thank you all for your patience during the project!

Areas of the Albany waterfront will be closed to the public from August 2018-November 2019 for a beach restoration project and Bay Trail extension managed by the East Bay Regional Park District. Access to the Albany Bulb and Neck will remain open.
