Put a Smile on Your Face While Sheltering in Place

Spend a night at the opera. The New York Metropolitan Opera is live streaming performances through their website. Sing along if you wish! 

Participate in a Cincinnati Zoo Home Safari. Each day, the Cincinnati Zoo will be hosting a virtual Home Safari on Facebook Live, where zoo staff will feature one of the zoo’s animals and provide a unique at-home activity you can do with your family.

Visit the Alameda County Library...without leaving your couch. Even though the library is closed, you can still access eAudiobooks, movies, music, and more with your library card using Alameda County Public Library’s eResources.  

Take a walk on Mars. Put yourself in the shoes (tracks?) of the Mars Curiosity Rover with NASA’s Access Mars Virtual Reality tool.  

Go to the Oakland Zoo. Marvel at elephants, bears, and condors by tuning into one of the Oakland Zoo’s webcams. 

Virtually explore art from world famous museums. Bonus points if you create your own art using items in your house or old art supplies.   

Explore National Parks with a virtual tour. Visit Yellowstone, Yosemite, or Denali National Parks from your living room. 

Smithsonian- National Museum of Natural History Take self-guided, room-by-room tours of select exhibits and areas within the museum. Access select collections and research areas at satellite support and research stations as well as past exhibits no longer on display.

Musee d’Orsay, Paris The museum holds mainly French art dating from 1848 to 1914, including paintings, sculptures, furniture, and photography. Enjoy a virtual tour, a virtual exhibit and access to many of the museum’s most famous artifacts, including works by Cézanne, Monet, van Gogh and more.
